NOTE: for many of our concerts, we just have the band start the show and introduce their musicians. The MC will then come up to do the offering at the halfway point, which also gives the band a short break.
If the MC is opening for the Band, here is the usual procedure:
BEFORE THE CONCERT
- The MC will meet with the band and find out some information about the group to use in your opening.
- The MC and the band will decide when to take schedule a break so the MC can do the offering.
START THE CONCERT
- The MC will say a few sentences about the band – where are they from, what type of music they play, etc.
- Remind the audience that the concert schedule is on Facebook.
- Mention the Port-A-Potty location.
- Ask that people not block the street so emergency services can get through.
- Turn it over to the band to begin.
TAKE THE OFFERING
- The offering should be around the middle of the concert.
- The MC should ask the audience for 6 volunteers to help take the offering. We have 6 buckets to pass around.
- The MC and Treasurer will stay and count the offering.
- People may ask how much the band collected. It’s fine to let them know the amount.
- Volunteers taking the donation sometimes want to help count. The MC and the Treasurer can decide who they want to help count the money.
END OF CONCERT
- Ed or the MC will give the offering to the band at the end of the evening.
